We would like to clarifiy what you meant in your October 22nd email response to Brad 's question about
city funds that have been spent to date on meetings with Bob Roepnak and the Friends of North Asheville Dog Park.

You answered that "To the best of my knowledge, there have not been any out of pocket expenses recorded to date."
Obviously, your fund accounting has not allocated any staff salaries to "out of pocket expenses."
As accountants and taxpayers, we feel the public--in particular Brad -- at least should be told that taxpayer dollars have paid the salaries of staff who spent hours in meetings with and advising the Friends of the North Asheville Dog Park.  Just last Thursday, October 17th, five staff members spent an hour meeting with three Friends.  Surely, our city would want the public to know that these five staff members were being paid salaries for that hour.
By 11 am today we have had 500 visitors to our blog rasheville.blogspot.com.  We want to post your response for our visitors.

  1. Elizabeth and John, I could care less who paid their salary. We own 4 properties in Beaverdam, one in Lakeview Park because we have worked our self to the bone and are part of the 99%; however, work to provide personal property for our pets and ourselves. Do you live in Beaverdam? Do you realize the impact this will have on our road system? What about the water source that runs by this location providing Beaver Lake? We own 5 properties and pay an abundance of real estate taxes, supporting many of Asheville's infrastructure and public facilities. WE DON'T WANT A DOG PARK IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD TO PROVIDE FOR THOSE THAT DON'T PAY TAXES.

Keep walking your dogs and picking up their pooh. What's the problem? I understand that the dog park at Carrier is filthy and NO one picks up the dog BM's. Since you live in the Hills of Beaverdam, then excuse me because you do have a right to an opinion. Aren't you realizing the traffic impact or that on beautiful Beaver Lake?. Why a dog park? What is/are the justifications? Free land? Do you not have a yard?

  2. I'm sorry we weren't clear enough. Actually, we are the proprietors of this blog, the purpose of which is to oppose the dog park! We asked the question because the City claimed no expenses have been incurred for a dog park yet. But several meetings have been held at the behest of the Friends, and surely the attendance of staff at these meetings cost the city, and you and me, something.
